plaid sun.

Not so long ago
her skirt, speaking
to her pulsing thigh
said

“I’ll be as bright
as the sun”

and she twirled, oh!
So light,
she spun

her black & white
& red plaid,

charred a hole
in my eyes.

Oh, what’s that you
do?!

Not too long ago
she said, where
the pieces lie

“I’ll burn
as bright as wine”

and she closed her eyes
and turned, turned
and turned.

She closed her eyes,
pretty as a broken
heart.

She closed her eyes
and I hid

away
away
behind her eyelids
as she closed her eyes.
