Lend me a night
or two

on earth,
my window seal,
leaning –alight

into the black
expanse above,

those dark
woods where
the stars lark,

feel,

shutter
and wink

as butterfly wanders…

Lend me another
stroll, another lean

and that humming
of a spring

night’s glove
grazing upon my breast.

Lend me a night
or two

drinking the lights

out to a quell
