a whisker’s tale.

She wanders

a stare

in a pond
of glass,

watching dust

wear specks
of evening light

twigs
as wings

on their backs.
In a whisker’s

flare
she leaps

on a glance,
escapes

through the windowpane

and vanishes
in a riot of leaves

―as she wanders

a stare.
